Karie has over 18 years of experience in the construction sector and specialises in contentious construction matters, international arbitration, and Middle East law. Based in the UAE since 2008, she is recognised as a trusted adviser to private and government clients across the MENA region and internationally.

Her experience covers arbitration under leading institutional rules including DIAC, ADCCAC, ICC, LCIA and UNCITRAL, as well as litigation before the DIFC Courts, expert determinations, and adjudications. She also has extensive experience working with local counsel in disputes before the Abu Dhabi Courts, including the Court of Cassation.

Karie’s practice focuses on major engineering, infrastructure, and energy projects involving complex technical and contractual issues. Acting as project counsel, she works closely with clients to mitigate risk and achieve early resolution through structured negotiation, risk management, and contract compliance strategies.

Before relocating to the UAE, Karie practised construction law at a boutique firm in Ottawa, Canada.
