Mr. Abdulaziz Taher Alkhateeb, founding partner of the distinguished Taher Group Law Firm, is one of Kuwait’s most accomplished legal figures, with nearly 56 years of experience practicing before all levels of the Kuwaiti judiciary, including the Constitutional and Supreme Courts. As head of the firm, his leadership and vision have shaped both its local and international operations, earning him wide respect within the legal community.
A graduate of Cairo University, where he obtained his Bachelor of Law degree in 1969, Mr. Alkhateeb has served as an arbitrator at several prestigious institutions, including the Commercial Arbitration Center of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), the Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and the Kuwaiti Lawyers Association. He has also held key positions such as Board Member of the Kuwait Judicial Institute and the Lawyers Association, further underscoring his standing as a legal authority in Kuwait.
Beyond his legal practice, Mr. Alkhateeb has played a pivotal role in shaping Kuwait’s legislative framework. He has contributed to the drafting and amendment of several landmark laws and has chaired influential committees such as the Law Editing Committee, the Law of Rents Committee, and the Committee to Amend the Personal Affairs Laws. His scholarly works, including “Statute of Limitations in Kuwaiti Laws” and “Code of Criminalization and Punishment in Non-Penal Laws”, continue to serve as essential references in Kuwaiti legal scholarship.
With deep expertise in commercial law, corporate governance, taxation, and commercial arbitration, Mr. Alkhateeb’s practice encompasses the drafting and review of commercial and investment contracts, dispute resolution, litigation, and arbitration for both local and foreign investors.
Mr. Alkhateeb’s dedication to professional development is evident through his active participation in numerous courses, seminars, and conferences focused on arbitration, governance, and law firm management. His lifelong commitment to learning and legal excellence has cemented his reputation as a leading figure in Kuwait’s legal and arbitration community.
He is fluent in both Arabic and English.
