Alexis Apostolidis is a Partner and Patent Attorney at Adams & Adams, where he leads the firm’s Competition Law Group. With deep expertise in intellectual property (IP) law, patent litigation, and competition law, Alexis represents multinational and national clients across key sectors including life sciences, agrochemical, petrochemical, telecommunications, IT, and consumer goods.

A seasoned litigator, Alexis has successfully acted in complex, multi-jurisdictional patent and design disputes in South Africa and across the African continent. His clients include originator pharmaceutical companies, OEM German automotive brands, banks, and media content providers. Recognized as a strategic and shrewd litigator, he is regularly sought for high-stakes IP litigation involving the intersection of patent rights and competition law.

Alexis also advises on IP commercialisation, licensing, and regulatory compliance, crafting holistic legal strategies that align with business objectives. His dual focus on competition and IP law has earned him the reputation as the firm’s “ace up the sleeve” (IAM) for competition-related IP disputes.

He is currently acting in a landmark case before both the Court of the Commissioner of Patents and the Competition Commission of South Africa, addressing patent abuse and access to medicines.
