Massimiliano Danusso is the President of BonelliErede and one of Italy’s leading banking and finance lawyers. He specializes in capital markets, corporate finance operations, credit-linked notes and derivatives, bond offerings, covered bonds, and securitisations. Massimiliano also advises major financial institutions on complex derivative and financial litigation, encompassing both civil and criminal matters.

Primarily based in BonelliErede’s Italian offices, he also serves as Managing Partner of the London office. He leads the Debt Capital Markets Focus Team and is a member of the Banks, Insurance, and Africa Teams. As Country Partner for the United Kingdom and the U.S. Midwest (Florida and Texas), he supports the firm’s international growth and client relationships.

Massimiliano joined BonelliErede as a Partner in 2016 and became a board member in 2021. He is also a P.R.I.M.E. Finance Expert, Vice Chair of the IBA Debt Capital Markets Subcommittee, and a member of the Editorial Board of the Capital Markets Law Journal published by Oxford University Press.

He holds an SJD in Civil Law from the University of Rome, an LL.M. from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, and a law degree from La Sapienza University of Rome. Massimiliano is a member of the Italian Bar and a Solicitor registered with the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) in England and Wales. He is fluent in English.
