Aamal Al Abbasi is the Managing Partner at Newton Legal Group, having joined the firm in 2012. She works closely with key clients including the Office of H.R.H. the Prime Minister, Bahrain Petroleum Company BSC(C) (Bapco), Gulf Aluminium Rolling Mill B.S.C (c) (Garmco), and other state-owned companies. Aamal has also served as a legal advisor to several governmental committees.
She advised Bapco from a Bahrain law perspective on the financing of the Bapco Modernisation Programme, which involved 26 financial institutions, and led the structuring of the security package for the deal. Aamal has issued numerous legal opinions for the financing of Bapco and Nogaholding’s strategic projects, with a combined value exceeding USD 6 billion.
Aamal has been appointed by the Government of Bahrain to lead high-value commercial litigation cases, including matters exceeding USD 60 million, and has advised internal governmental committees on legal issues, potential projects, and legislative amendments. In 2021, she was appointed to the Panel of Conciliators at the International Center for Settlement of Investment Disputes and is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Dispute Resolution Center established by the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
