Dr. Fahad Abuhimed is the Managing Partner of Abuhimed Alsheikh Alhagbani Law Firm (AS&H) and a distinguished Saudi legal practitioner with extensive experience in project finance, banking, capital markets, and regulatory law. His career bridges private practice, government service, and academia, establishing him as one of the Kingdom’s foremost experts in legal reform and commercial regulation.
He began his career in the United Kingdom while completing his PhD, working alongside Neil Kaplan QC on a number of high-value international arbitration cases, including multi-billion-pound disputes. Upon returning to Saudi Arabia, he joined Al-Jadaan & Partners Law Firm, where he advised on some of the country’s most complex and high-profile transactions in project finance, banking, and debt capital markets. He was later seconded to the Dubai office of Clifford Chance LLP, continuing to advise on Saudi-related transactions.
Dr. Fahad subsequently joined the Ministry of Commerce and Industry as Deputy Minister for Laws and Regulations Affairs, where he also served as Acting Deputy Minister for External Trade and Acting Deputy Minister for Legal Affairs. In these roles, he led numerous national legal reforms, including the drafting and implementation of the Companies Law, Insolvency Law, Commercial Law, Corporate Governance Regulations, and the E-Commerce Law, among others. His leadership was instrumental in shaping Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 transformation plan for the Ministry.
He currently chairs an arbitral tribunal and holds several board and advisory positions. Dr. Fahad earned his PhD in International Commercial Arbitration Law and LLM in International Arbitration Law from the University of Hull in the United Kingdom, and his LLB from King Abdulaziz University in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
