Carlos Abou Jaoude is the founder and managing partner of Abou Jaoude & Associates Law Firm in Beirut, where he leads the Banking and Finance practices. Before establishing the firm, he gained professional experience in Paris and London. With over 30 years of experience, Carlos represents local, regional, and international clients across various sectors in both the private and public domains. He has led major transactions in banking, finance, mergers and acquisitions, energy, project development and finance, media, and telecommunications, and is recognized for his work in complex litigation and arbitration cases, particularly in media, construction, energy, and banking disputes. Carlos is also actively involved in policy-related work, advising public authorities on legislation and reforms, and has developed innovative legal structures and investment products. He is known for his business-minded approach to legal transactions. His expertise covers banking, finance and capital markets, corporate law, energy, project development and finance, real estate and construction, tax, dispute resolution, financial restructuring and insolvency, public affairs and procurement, media, private wealth and family offices, and telecommunications and technology. Carlos has co-authored Lebanon chapters in major legal publications, contributed to the World Bank Lebanon Doing Business Reports, and spoken at conferences including the Euromoney Lebanon Conference, BDL Accelerate conference, and the International Beirut Energy Forum. He is admitted to the Beirut Bar Association, is a member of the International Bar Association, serves on the Ethics Committee of the Beirut Bar Association, participates in the AmCham Banking & Finance Committee, sits on boards of prominent corporations and investment funds, and is a member of the inter-ministerial legal committee for the Reform of the Investment Climate in Lebanon. He holds an LLB from Saint-Joseph University in Lebanon and is fluent in Arabic, French, and English.
