Benedita Aires is a Partner in the Banking & Finance practice at Vieira de Almeida (VdA), a leading law firm in Lisbon. She joined VdA in 2003 and became a partner in January 2019.

With over two decades of experience, Benedita specializes in complex financial transactions, including the issuance and placement of debt, equity, and regulatory capital instruments, as well as structured finance products and classic financing. Her expertise extends to credit securitizations, covered bond issues, asset portfolio financings, and other asset-backed transactions.

Benedita has played a pivotal role in the public recapitalization of Portuguese banks and in obtaining European Commission approval for their restructuring processes. She has provided legal counsel on the application of resolution measures to Portuguese banks, the establishment of bridge banks, and the disposal of financial institutions.

Her contributions to the field are recognized in the 2025 Chambers Europe rankings, where she is listed in Band 4 for Banking & Finance.

Benedita holds a Law Degree from the University of Porto, post-graduations in Banking Law from the University of Lisbon and Commercial Law from the Portuguese Catholic University, and an LL.M. from the Católica Global School of Law. She also spent a year seconded to Clifford Chance LLP’s Structured Finance team in London.
