Mansoor J. Malik is the founder and managing partner of AMJ, where he leads the firm’s corporate, commercial, and dispute resolution departments. A UK-qualified barrister, Mansoor has over 35 years of legal experience in Oman, establishing himself as one of the most respected and influential legal figures in the region.
His expertise covers all aspects of corporate, banking, and finance law, with a strong focus on projects, public-private partnerships (PPPs), and privatisations. Over the past three decades, he has advised on many of Oman’s landmark transactions in the energy, natural resources, infrastructure, real estate, and telecommunications sectors, and is regarded as the foremost authority on Omani privatisation and utilities law.
Mansoor has played a pivotal role in advising the Government of Oman on the restructuring and privatisation of state-owned entities across key industries. He is also recognised as a pioneer in Islamic finance in Oman, contributing to the development of innovative financial and legal structures in the field.
In the dispute resolution arena, Mansoor serves as a listed arbitrator before the Oman Court of Appeal and has rights of audience before Oman’s Supreme Court. He advises clients on project and commercial disputes, representing parties across the entire supply chain in both domestic and international arbitration proceedings. His experience spans institutional and ad hoc arbitrations, where he is known for his strategic approach and deep understanding of Omani law.
Mansoor is also an associate member of 3 Verulam Buildings in London, one of the UK’s leading sets of commercial law barristers’ chambers.
He holds a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Hull (1982) and was called to the Bar of England and Wales in 1983. Mansoor is fluent in English, Urdu, and Punjabi.
His main practice areas include Banking and Finance (including Islamic Finance), Projects, PPPs and Privatisation, Natural Resources (Oil, Gas, and Mining), Mergers and Acquisitions, Capital Markets, Real Estate, Construction, Litigation, and Arbitration.
