Noor Kapdi is the Chairperson of Dentons for the Africa region, based in Cape Town and Johannesburg. As part of the Firm’s global leadership, he has played a key role in shaping and executing Dentons’ Africa strategy for over seven years, overseeing its expansion to more than 18 offices across the continent, including in Angola, Kenya, Mauritius, Morocco, Mozambique, Namibia, Nigeria, South Africa, Tanzania, Tunisia, Uganda, and Zambia. A founding partner of KapdiTwala—which combined with Dentons in 2012—Noor also serves as Chairperson of Dentons South Africa.
He is Co-Chair of Dentons’ Global ESG Practice Leadership Team and a member of the Firm’s Global Banking and Finance, Global Corporate, and Global Energy, Infrastructure, and Project Finance practice groups. An experienced commercial lawyer, Noor has particular expertise in oil and gas and private equity, advising clients on all aspects of the energy value chain, including upstream, midstream, and downstream operations. His extensive private equity experience spans buyouts, venture capital, fund formation, fund management, and investment structuring, providing clients with strategic, commercially informed legal counsel.
Noor has served as Deputy Chairperson of the Western Cape Investment & Trade Promotion Agency (WESGRO) and as Acting Chairperson of the Executive Committee of the South African Oil and Gas Alliance (SAOGA). He is also a member of the Association of International Petroleum Negotiators (AIPN). Noor’s work reflects his deep commitment to advancing cross-border investment and regulatory excellence across Africa.
