Chadia El Meouchi is the Managing Partner of Badri and Salim El Meouchi Law Firm and has been a member of the New York Bar since 2000. She joined the firm in 2000 and became Managing Partner in 2005. She has practiced law in North America and the Middle East, including Lebanon and Qatar, for over 20 years. Chadia advises clients across multiple fields, particularly corporate, mergers and acquisitions, banking and finance both Islamic and conventional, PPP, energy including oil and gas, establishment of funds, capital markets and financial instruments, structuring and restructuring, hospitality and urban development, insurance, project finance, construction law, environmental law, and real estate across the MENA region, Europe, Asia, the GCC, and North and South America. She serves on the boards of various companies in industries such as banking and financial services, cement, insurance, construction, engineering, and commercial. She is a professor at University Panthéon – Assas Paris II lecturing in Islamic Banking and Finance, Islamic Corporate Governance and Tax Legislation of the GCC Countries, at the American University of Beirut lecturing in Energy Law, and at the Lebanese American University lecturing in Project Finance, Public and Private Partnerships, Corporate Governance, and Mergers and Acquisitions. She also teaches at Tamayyaz in the Independent Corporate Director Certification Program and has taught Negotiation, English Law, and Economics for Success. Chadia has authored articles on corporate and financial law, privatisation, corporate governance, and transparency, and speaks frequently at conferences on topics such as leadership, women’s rights, business and commercial law, banking and finance, international expansion, corporate governance, transparency, access to information, and intellectual property. She earned a Bachelor of Commerce majoring in International Business from Concordia University, a Bachelor of Civil Law from the University of Montreal, and a Master of Laws from Georgetown University. She holds an Islamic Finance Qualification from the UK Securities and Investment Institute and ESA, a Certificate in arbitration and ADR from the Canadian International Arbitration Centre, a post-graduate diploma in Oil & Gas law from Robert Gordon University, and completed the executive program in exponential technology at Singularity University. Chadia co-founded the Middle East Leadership Initiative with the Aspen Institute and Shane Tedjarati in 2009 and is part of the Aspen Global Leadership Network and the Aspen Corps of Moderators, serving on the Aspen Leadership Committee of the Aspen Institute Board of Trustees since 2013. She co-founded LeapLearner Inc, an online education technology company, and Les Journées des Sciences Association, serves as Vice Chair and Board Member of the Lebanese Centre for Policy Studies, Co-Chair and member of the Human Rights Watch Committee for Lebanon, and is involved with LIFE Lebanon, Equality Now, Teach For Lebanon, Peace First, Shareholders Rights.com, and the LLM Advisory Council at the Lebanese American University. She was a board member of the Lebanese Transparency Association, a founding member and head of the Lebanese Corporate Governance Task Force’s Legal and Regulatory Committee, and has served on the boards of the Global Integrity Alliance, Young Leaders’ Integrity Alliance, and Young Arab Leaders, founding Young Arab Leaders Lebanon and volunteering with Injaz Al Arab Companies Program Competition. She is fluent in Arabic, English, and French, has working knowledge of Spanish and Italian, and is learning Chinese and Hebrew.
