Kamau Karori, MBS, SC, is the Partner in charge of the Dispute Resolution practice at IKM Advocates, DLA Piper Africa member firm in Kenya. A distinguished litigator and arbitrator, Kamau has played a central role in resolving some of Kenya’s most high-profile and precedent-setting commercial disputes before the High Court, Court of Appeal, and Supreme Court.
A Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (Kenya Branch), Kamau possesses extensive experience in commercial arbitration and is regularly retained by multinationals, government agencies, and major institutions to act either as counsel or arbitrator in complex, high-value matters. His expertise and professionalism have earned him consistent recognition from clients, peers, and leading international legal directories, including Chambers Global, where he is ranked in Tier 1 for arbitration and recognized as one of Kenya’s top dispute resolution lawyers.
Kamau’s notable achievements include serving as co-counsel for the Government of Kenya in a multibillion-dollar investment arbitration before the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID), successfully concluded in Kenya’s favor in 2018.
In acknowledgment of his exemplary service to the nation and the legal profession, Kamau was awarded the Moran of the Order of the Burning Spear (MBS). He is fluent in English and Swahili.
