Ashok Lalwani leads Baker McKenzie’s International Capital Markets practice in Asia Pacific. With over 20 years of experience, he is widely recognized for his expertise in cross-border securities transactions and India-related legal matters. He is consistently ranked by Chambers Asia Pacific and has been featured in Singapore’s Top 100 Lawyers (2018–2023) and International A-List (2019–2025).

Ashok advises issuers and underwriters on public and private securities offerings and cross-border M&A, with a particular focus on US federal securities laws. He has led landmark IPOs and bond issuances across Thailand, Malaysia, India, and Taiwan, and regularly represents clients across the US, Asia, and emerging markets. His India-focused practice covers inbound and outbound transactions across diverse industries.

Notable matters include IPOs for Hindustan Aeronautics, Leong Hup International, and B. Grimm Power, as well as green bond offerings for Jain Irrigation and sustainability notes for Bank Rakyat Indonesia.

Ashok is admitted to practice in California and holds a JD (cum laude) from the University of Notre Dame, along with an MBA and BA from Michigan State University. He is fluent in English and Hindi.
