Gautam Bhattacharyya is a highly respected Partner at Reed Smith LLP, focusing on international commercial arbitration and litigation across diverse sectors. A partner since 2000, he is the former managing partner of Reed Smith’s Singapore office and a former member of the firm’s global board and executive committee. Gautam also chairs the firm’s India Business Team.

He has acted in major arbitrations under ICC, LCIA, UNCITRAL, SIAC, ICSID, SCC, and Swiss Chambers rules, and in high-stakes litigation before the English courts and international jurisdictions. His experience includes defending a $1 billion LCIA claim for an Indian pharmaceutical company and representing clients in complex shareholder and hotel management disputes. He also advised a syndicate of Indian banks in arbitration linked to the Dabhol power project and successfully defended the Mongolian government in litigation in the English courts.

An accomplished legal writer and speaker, he has appeared on BBC, CNBC, and FT TV. Gautam holds an LL.B. (First Class) from the University of Westminster and an LL.M. (Distinction) from the London School of Economics. He is admitted in England and Wales.
