Trowers & Hamlin LLP
Founded in 1777, Trowers & Hamlins is an international law firm with a rich legacy of over two centuries, renowned for its commitment to service, integrity, innovation, and quality. With over 170 partners and more than 1,000 professionals across offices in the UK, Middle East, and Asia, the firm delivers commercially focused legal solutions to clients across a wide range of sectors and geographies.
Having evolved through more than 20 iterations and partnerships since its early days under Richard and John Woodhouse, the firm officially became Trowers & Hamlins in 1987, building on a long-standing association between the Trower and Hamlin firms. Sir Walter Trower, who joined in 1886 and was knighted in 1915, remains one of the firm’s historic figures of leadership and influence.
Trowers & Hamlins is widely recognised for its deep industry insight and practical understanding of the sectors in which its clients operate. This approach allows the firm to move beyond traditional transactional and advisory roles to offer innovative, commercially driven legal strategies tailored to today's complex business environment.
With a significant international footprint, the firm has expanded its presence steadily over the years, opening offices in Oman (1980), Dubai (1991), Abu Dhabi (1993), Bahrain (1998), Malaysia (2012), and most recently Singapore (2024), in addition to a strong UK presence including Manchester, Exeter, Birmingham, and London.
The firm’s practice spans affordable housing, construction, corporate, commercial, dispute resolution, employment and pensions, finance, tax, private wealth, and real estate. With a focus on responsible business, Trowers & Hamlins also leads on innovation and legal technology through dedicated desks for regions such as India and Korea.
Central to Trowers & Hamlins' success is a strong culture built on shared values. These values—developed through firm-wide engagement—are embedded into its operations, leadership, and performance frameworks, ensuring a positive, inclusive, and collaborative environment across all offices. This alignment ensures that the firm continues to be not just a legal advisor, but a trusted partner committed to delivering lasting impact for clients around the world.
