Chennai Partner of Dua Associates, Senthil Kumar Ramamoorthy, has now been confirmed and appointed as additional judge of the Madras high court.
He has been elevated as Additional Judge over a year after he was first recommended for Judgeship by the SC’s Collegium in December 2017.
Very likely, he is the first partner of a modern Indian law firm to ascend to the bench. His appointment as an Additional Judge would initially be for two years, as per the GR and a Dua Associates press release.
Ramamoorthy was the Founder of Dua’s Chennai office and long-time counsel for several foreign law firms in the A K Balaji writ petition against the entry of foreign law firms.
