Sandeep Kapoor, Bangalore-based director legal at top venture capital (VC) fund Sequoia Capital, will be leaving the firm, probably by the end of this month, according to authoritative sources.
Sequoia Vice President Legal, Siddharth V Rao is set to take over the legal director role from Kapoor. A 2006 Nalsar Hyderabad graduate, Rao had been at Sequoia since 2015, after a one year stint at Platinum Partners from 2014 to 2015.
When contacted, Kapoor declined comment. One of India’s busiest VC players is Sequoia and during his stint there since 2010, Kapoor has grown the legal team to around five lawyers. He has integrated artificial intelligence / machine learning tools into Sequoia’s investment process.
A 1996 Delhi University LLB graduate, Kapoor is also a qualified company secretary. He started his career in-house at Ranbaxy.
