The Enforcement Directorate (ED) summoned Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray seeking explanation in the alleged irregularities in Infrastructure Leasing & Financial Services (IL&FS) money laundering scam.
The ED is probing into the matter of IL&FS which has invested Rs. 225 crore in the Kohinoor CTNL company. However the company surrendered its shares for Rs. 90 crore and booked a loss. Thackeray who was holding shares of the company exited the consortium by selling the shares in 2008.
As per allegations, Kohinoor CTNL entered into agreement to sell certain premises of the Kohinoor Square in Dadar area of Mumbai to the IL&FS group and settle the amount, but it defaulted. According to the ED, Kohinoor CTNL allegedly defaulted on the payments and the loan was acquired without adequate security.
The ED took over the money laundering probe after a case was registered by the Delhi Economic Offence Wing (EOW).
Former Maharashtra CM and senior Shiv Sena leader, Manohar Joshi’s son Unmesh Joshi has also been summoned by the ED.
