Cybersecurity in India is not what it should be, according to a new survey by global cybersecurity firm, Sophos. Cyber attacks happen from all directions, relentlessly and IT managers in India do not have the wherewithal to adequately withstand the attacks. The new survey shows a staggering 81% lack security expertise, budget and technology to deal with attacks.
Indian IT managers reported 32 percent of their team’s time is spent on managing security. Yet, the result to show is a depressing 8 percent only who believe they have strong enough team to detect, investigate and respond to security threats.
It takes dedicated expertise to own proper security system that responds quickly and efficiently to attacks. However, IT managers have hard time finding the right talent or right technology to have such system in place. The current technology is woefully short of talents and tools to handle detection and management of sudden spurts in cyber attacks.
The scale of handling cyber threats is inexplicably large seeing its extensive use the world over. Cyber security must be one of the top priorities in the digital world in order to respond to attacks by pro-actively getting the hang of the attack and defusing it before it hits target. Instead, reports of inadequacy are debilitating and disturbing.
Sophos handles protection for about 400,000 top and medium size organizations in more than 150 countries from advanced cyber threats.
