The Nirbhaya convicts will be hanged to death at Delhi's Tihar Jail, at 6 am on February 1, 2020, according to fresh death warrants issued recently.
Additional Sessions Judge Satish Kumar Arora issued fresh death warrants against the four convicts in the Nirbhaya case after being informed by Tihar Jail authorities that the mercy plea of convict Mukesh Singh has been dismissed by the President of India.
Earlier in the day, Public Prosecutor Irfan Ahmed had moved a fresh application seeking issuance of death warrants against the four death row convicts, telling the court that no petition by the convicts is pending before it or any other legal forum.
It may be recalled that the four convicts, namely Mukesh Singh, Vinay Sharma, Akshay Thakur and Pawan Gupta, were originally scheduled to be hung to death at 7 am on January 22.
