Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas & Co (SAM & Co.) advised Leadership Boulevard Private Limited and its promoters Sumeet Yashpal Mehta and Smita Deorah in relation to an investment by Westbridge AIF-I, along with Konark Trust and MMPL Trust by subscription of equity shares and series C1 compulsorily convertible preference shares. The first tranche of the deal closed on 20 August 2020 and is valued at approx. USD 28 million.
Leadership Boulevard Pvt. Ltd. operates education-technology company LEAD School. LEAD School was founded by Sumeet Mehta and Smita Deorah in 2012. The company initially began operations by running affordable schools and teaching middle-school students. It then built out its platform, the LEAD School Integrated System, which it began offering in 2017.
WestBridge Capital is a highly experienced investment firm, managing approximately $3 billion of capital, which focuses on investments in India.
The transaction team was led by Nivedita Tiwari, Partner; Nandini Seth, Principal Associate; Taruna Dhingra, Senior Associate; Tanima Tandon, Senior Associate and Axay Satagopan, Associate.
DC Advisory were investment banking advisors for Leadership Boulevard Private Limited and the promoters. Vendor due diligence was done by Induslaw LLP; Platinum Partners LLP advised Westbridge AIF-I (along with Konark Trust and MMPL Trust) and Induslaw LLP advised Elevar IIV AIF (existing investor).
