Shujath Bin Ali, Senior Director Legal, Parexel International India, has been appointed by Ramky Enviro Engineers, the KKR-backed environment management services company, as its General Counsel (GC) and Chief Compliance Officer in Hyderabad.
Ali, an Osmania University LLB, BCom and qualified company secretary, had previously worked at a number of companies, including at Deloitte between 2005 and 2014 in Hyderabad as associate vice president, head legal and company secretary.
From 2014 to 2016 he was senior legal counsel and company secretary at International Paper India, responsible for overseeing legal issues in its packaging business. In 2016 he joined US-headquartered biopharmaceutical services giant Parexel International as senior director and India general counsel.
KKR bought 60% stake in Ramky in 2018 for $530m, with Link Legal India Law Services having advised the company and Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas having represented KKR.
The company is present in 60 locations globally and offers solutions and consulting relating to managing and processing hazardous, municipal, biomedical and e-waste as well as recycling of paper, plastics and chemicals.
It also has interests in renewable energy generation, particularly with respect to converting waste to energy.
