Tech Mahindra Limited, a multinational provider of solutions for information technology, networking technology and business process outsourcing, has appointed Vineet Vij as its global general counsel from April 29, it has been announced.
Vij has joined as the global General Counsel of Tech Mahindra Ltd, effective April 29, 2019, and is responsible for entire legal affairs of Tech Mahindra and all its group companies worldwide.
He comes with a rich professional experience of more than 25 years, with diversified global conglomerates.
Most recently, he served as Senior Vice President-Legal, Commercial, Regulatory & Commercial, at HCL Technologies Limited for about 12 years, where he worked closely with that company’s senior leadership.
Earlier, he worked with the Tata Group for about 10 years, besides Punj Lloyd Ltd and American Express India Pvt Ltd.
He is highly respected in the industry for his efforts in policy advocacy and multilayered government engagements for effecting changes in IT/ITES, industrial, telecom and IPR policies of both state and central governments. He has been honored as ‘General Counsel of the Year’ in 2017 and also led his legal team to win the ‘Top In-House Legal Team of the Year Award’ in 2015 by Legal Era magazine.
He has extensive experience in legal, secretarial, regulatory, risk compliance as well as corporate and public affairs related areas in sectors like information technology, IT-enabled services, banking and non-banking financial companies.
He has been a litigator and practicing advocate at Delhi and Mumbai high courts, besides district courts as well as tribunals across India.
His work spanned a wide variety of areas including commercial and contract laws, info-tech, data protection and privacy, cyber laws, intellectual property rights, mergers and acquisitions (M&A), telecom, litigation and arbitration, international laws, global compliances, employment laws, real estate, indirect taxation, besides regulations pertaining to Special Economic Zones (SEZ) as well as state incentives and benefits schemes.
He has also interacted with government departments and industry bodies like the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), Department of Telecom (DoT), patent and trademark offices, as well as central and state labor agencies.
