Unilever To Shut Down Skincare Brand REN Amid Market Challenges
Unilever is set to close its skincare brand REN by the end of the third quarter of 2025, citing internal challenges and market pressures. After a collective consultation, the decision was made due to the brand's inability to sustain long-term success. Unilever acknowledged REN's pioneering role in clean skincare and thanked the team for their contributions over 25 years.
Unilever on Thursday announced that it is initiating the closure of its skincare brand REN, citing a mix of internal challenges and external market pressures that have hindered the brand's long-term viability.
The consumer goods giant, known for brands like Dove and Vaseline, said while there is no set closure date, it expects REN to cease trading by the end of the third quarter of 2025.
"Following the conclusion of a collective consultation period, we have taken the difficult decision to begin formal steps to close the REN business," the company stated. "A combination of internal factors, compounded by recent market challenges, has left the brand unable to sustain long-term success."
Unilever acknowledged REN's legacy in pioneering clean skincare and praised the team's contributions over its 25-year journey. "We are proud of what the REN team has accomplished - from championing clean skincare to driving positive change for people and the planet. We thank them for their continued support as we manage this transition," the company added.
