Global private equity firm Warburg Pincus LLC has sold over 11% stake worth approximately $83 million (Rs. 632 crore) in Laurus Labs. Warburg Pincus invested in Laurus Labs through its affiliate Bluewater Investment Ltd. According to data available on the BSE, the company sold 12.48 million shares at Rs. 506.07 a piece.
Laurus Labs is a Vishakhapatnam based developer of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs). Laurus is a manufacturer of APIs for anti-retroviral (ARV), oncology, cardiovascular and anti-diabetic therapeutic segments. Its customer base includes several generic pharmaceutical companies in India and abroad.
Vaidhyanadhan Iyer of AZB & Partners assisted Warburg Pincus in this deal.
