Sonam Mathur is a Partner at Talwar Thakore & Associates and leads the competition law practice. She advises clients on diverse competition law issues including complex merger control transactions (with phase II investigations and remedies), investigations into cartel and abuse of dominance allegations. She has successfully advised and represented clients before the Competition Commission of India, National Company Law Appellate Tribunal, and the Supreme Court of India. She also regularly advises clients on compliance with the Indian competition law.

Sonam has been recommended as a Future Leader by Who’s Who Legal and also, as a lawyer to watch on Chambers & Partners. Some of her work highlights include successfully advising the Match Group before the CCI in its complaint against Google, advising PayU on its proposed acquisition of BillDesk, GIC on its acquisition of shares in Sutherland (ITES), Linde AG on its merger with Praxair Inc., Sanofi on the major asset swap transaction with Boehringer Ingelheim and in a bid-rigging investigation, and a multinational company in its leniency application.

Sonam received her B.A. LL.B degree from the W. B. National University of Juridical Sciences, Kolkata (India) and LL.M degree in competition law from King’s College London.
