Gaja Capital, KKR lead Rs 980 crore in Avendus Capital

Mid-market private equity firm Gaja Capital and global PE buyout specialist KKR have jointly led a Rs 980-crore investment in Avendus Capital, as the domestic financial services firm looks to scale up its asset management and newly-launched credit businesses.

The transaction will also see Yogesh Mahansaria—the former promoter of Alliance Tire Group which was acquired by Japan’s Yokohama Rubber Co in a $1.2-billion deal last year—come on board Avendus Capital as a minority stakeholder. Mahansaria is also on the company’s board.
