Khaitan & Co advised JSW Ispat Steel Limited on the JSW–JFE joint venture and the transfer of BPSL’s steel business

The leading law firm Khaitan & Co advised JSW Ispat Steel Limited on the transfer of the steel business of Bhushan Power and Steel Limited (BPSL) by way of a slump sale for a cash consideration of INR 24,483 crore, along with the investment of INR 15,750 crore by JFE in two tranches, and the joint venture between JSW Steel Limited and JFE in the business.

The transaction marks a significant consolidation within the Indian steel sector, strengthening JSW’s strategic collaboration with JFE and enabling long-term value creation within the integrated steel value chain.
