The leading law firm in India, Khaitan & Co, advised Reliance Consumer Products Limited (RCPL), the FMCG arm of Reliance Industries Limited, on the acquisition of the 75-year-old legacy foods brand SIL from Sil Food India Private Limited, and the subsequent relaunch of the brand.
The transaction marks RCPL’s strategic entry into the packaged foods segment, with SIL positioned as its flagship foods brand across categories including noodles, jams, ketchups, sauces, and spreads.
The acquisition forms part of RCPL’s broader strategy to revive, modernise, and scale some of India’s most trusted heritage brands, while building a future-ready foods portfolio focused on quality and value for Indian households.
The transaction at RCPL was led by Vinit Shukla and Prabhu Nagarajan.
