Trilegal advised GMR Airports and Delhi International Airport before CCI in abuse of dominance case

Trilegal advised GMR Airports Limited (“GMR”) and Delhi International Airport Limited (“DIAL”) before the Competition Commission of India (“CCI”) in relation to proceedings alleging abuse of dominance. By an order dated March 20, 2025, the CCI closed the case at the threshold stage, holding that there was no prima facie case warranting investigation under Indian competition law against DIAL or GMR.

The CCI, relying on submissions filed by Trilegal, noted that DIAL had awarded contracts through competitive bidding and had not favoured the GMR group as alleged. The CCI further observed that the charges levied by DIAL were uniform and unchanged since their introduction. The CCI also dismissed the request for interim relief.

In related proceedings, Trilegal had earlier advised GMR and DIAL before the Hon’ble High Court of Delhi in a writ petition filed by the informants seeking expedited disposal of the CCI matter. The High Court dismissed the writ petition at the admission stage.

The Trilegal Competition team was led by Gautam Chawla (Partner), with support from Reshabh Juneja (Counsel) and Ankush Walia (Counsel), and Madhav Kapoor (Associate) and Umang Chaturvedi (Associate).
