Linklaters, Freshfields, And Slaughter And May Advised On FWD Group’s $442 Million Hong Kong IPO

Linklaters and Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer advised insurer FWD Group, backed by billionaire Richard Li, on its $442 million initial public offering (IPO) on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange. Slaughter and May acted as legal counsel to the sponsors of the IPO.

The IPO marks FWD Group’s third attempt to go public, following a withdrawn New York IPO plan in 2021 and a postponed Hong Kong listing in 2022 due to global market volatility. The successful listing now values the company at approximately $6.14 billion.

A wide international legal team supported the transaction. Alongside Linklaters and Freshfields, the issuer was also advised by Walkers (Hong Kong), Conyers Dill & Pearman, Ginting & Reksodiputro (in association with A&O Shearman), Mori Hamada & Matsumoto, MdME, Rahmat Lim & Partners, Nisce Mamuric Guinto and Alcantara Law Offices, Rajah & Tann Singapore, Baker McKenzie, and LNT & Partners.

The Linklaters team was led by Roger Cheng (Partner), Donnelly Chan (Partner) and Tiffany Yan (Counsel).
