Baker Botts Bolsters Singapore Office with Renowned Global Projects Partner Andrew Roche

Baker Botts LLP, a leading international energy, technology, and life sciences law firm, announced Monday that Andrew Roche has joined its Singapore office as a partner in the Global Projects Department.

Andrew Roche brings extensive expertise to his role, specialising in project financing and development within the energy, natural resources, and infrastructure sectors across Asia and the Pacific. With almost two decades of experience in the region, he has advised clients in diverse industries, including power, oil and gas, petrochemical, mining, and infrastructure.

His proficiency extends to various areas, notably in the financing of projects related to LNG (liquefied natural gas), renewables, refining, and digital infrastructure.

Andrew is a strategic fit for our firm and will be integral to the continued growth of our Asia-Pacific footprint,” said John Martin, Managing Partner of Baker Botts.

His project finance expertise and deep client relationships in the region will be instrumental in further expanding our global energy sector capabilities,” Martin added.

Richard Guit, the Global Projects Partner and Partner-in-Charge of the Singapore office expressed excitement and delight in welcoming Andrew to the firm.

His experience of advising sponsors and lenders on cross-border project finance involving commercial banks, multi-laterals and ECAs, is an excellent complement to our leading energy and projects offering in Singapore. We now have five experienced partners focused on energy, energy transition and energy-intensive industries,” Guit started.

Roche's addition to the team comes after the recent arrival of partners Richard Guit, Daniel Reinbott, and Michael Harrison, who have also joined the Singapore office. With the relocation of Lewis Jones from Baker Botts' London office, the Singapore office now boasts a total of five partners. Additionally, the office includes two Global Projects special counsels, Jessica Ham and Giles Ashman.

Baker Botts' Singapore office takes the lead in handling transactions within the energy industry and energy-intensive sectors, spanning natural gas, LNG, power, renewables, hydrogen, ammonia, and refining. With a strong commitment to supporting decarbonisation efforts, the team provides comprehensive assistance in this critical area.

Their expertise extends to transactions across various regions, including Australia, Bangladesh, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Pakistan, Papua New Guinea, the Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Thailand, and Vietnam, as well as expanding into central Asia, the Middle East, North Africa, and West Africa.

Baker Botts' Energy practice brings together a diverse group of skilled lawyers from various complementary disciplines, providing clients with a comprehensive range of legal expertise necessary for handling sophisticated and intricate energy and infrastructure projects and transactions worldwide.

Even amidst rapid changes in the energy landscape, where companies are compelled to adjust to new decarbonisation priorities (including electrification) and heightened focus on environmental, social, and governance (ESG) factors, Baker Botts continues to be recognised as the foremost energy law firm.
