Norton Rose Fulbright Advised Banks On Financing Of Neo Bio Energy Biogas Plants

Global law firm Norton Rose Fulbright has advised PKO Bank Polski and Bank Gospodarstwa Krajowego (BGK) on the financing acquisition and financing construction of biogas plants owned by Neo Biofuel Energy, a subsidiary of Neo Bio Energy.

The financing arrangement supported the development and acquisition of biogas plants, representing the first syndicated biogas financing deal in Poland.

PKO Bank Polski is the largest universal bank in Poland, a joint-stock company listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange since 2004. As part of PKO Bank Polski Group’s strategy for 2025–2027, the bank acknowledges the urgent need to support Poland's energy transition and intends to play a leading role in the financing – covering over 20 percent of the total expenditures that the banking sector will provide to implement this transformation.

Bank Gospodarstwa Krajowego (BGK) is Poland’s national development bank, playing a key role in supporting the country’s social and economic growth. BGK finances infrastructure and investment projects of strategic importance to the national economy, promotes sustainable development, and facilitates access to capital for Polish businesses. Acting as a long-term partner to public and private entities, BGK contributes to the implementation of government development programs and actively supports initiatives aimed at strengthening Poland’s financial and capital markets.

Neo Bio Energy, a part of Neo Energy Group, is a Polish company that develops, constructs, and operates biogas plants. The company has 20 years of experience in producing energy from landfill gas, is a leader in this field, and a key investor in the segment of fermentation biogas plants and biomethane. Neo Bio Energy is rapidly expanding its presence in the agricultural and municipal biogas plant sectors, specializing in their development and operation. The company also focuses on capturing landfill gas and converting it into renewable electricity and heat, contributing to sustainable energy production and environmental protection.
