Joshua Hess Joins Sheppard Mullin as Partner to Strengthen Securities Litigation Team

Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton LLP has announced the addition of Joshua Hess as a Partner in its Business Trial Practice Group and Securities Enforcement & Litigation team in San Francisco, further expanding its securities and antitrust litigation capabilities in Northern California. He joins the firm from Dechert LLP, where he was also a partner.

With a national litigation practice, Hess focuses on securities litigation—particularly defending asset managers in class action suits, shareholder litigation, internal investigations, and civil/criminal price-fixing cases. He frequently advises companies, boards, and individuals in high-stakes disputes involving securities fraud, breach of fiduciary duty, corporate governance issues, and SEC enforcement matters.

Over the course of his career, Hess has represented major financial institutions, investment firms, and public companies across Delaware and U.S. federal courts. His deep experience strengthens Sheppard Mullin’s litigation bench, particularly in shareholder and governance disputes.

Hess holds a B.A., cum laude, from Columbia University and a J.D., cum laude, from Georgetown University Law Center, where he was a Philip Hart/Ralph J. Gilbert Scholar.
