Musk To Retract OpenAI Bid If Board Agrees To Maintain Charity Mission
Elon Musk will withdraw his bid to acquire OpenAI's non-profit arm if the board agrees to maintain the charity's mission, according to a court filing made by Musk's lawyers on Wednesday.
The filing stated that if the OpenAI board is willing to preserve the charity's mission and agree to remove the "for sale" sign from its assets by halting any conversion, Musk will retract his offer.
Musk, leading a consortium of investors, made an offer of $97.4 billion to purchase the assets of OpenAI's non-profit arm, marking another chapter in Musk's ongoing challenge against the artificial intelligence company.
