O'Melveny & Myers elevates 11 to partnership

The cohort includes litigators in the entertainment, consumer class actions, and IP teams

In its latest promotions round, one of the top 60 US law firms, O'Melveny & Myers has elevated 11 lawyers, including eight women, to partnerships across the country.

They are from racial and ethnic minorities, and/or LGBTQ+ as is being done over the past nine years. More than two-thirds of its total new partner promotions have been individuals from these groups. However, the round is a slight dip from last year when the firm elevated 13 as partners.

Speaking on the development, Bradley Butwin, the chair of O'Melveny & Myers remarked, "They have distinguished themselves not only as top litigators and dealmakers but also as champions of our shared values. These outstanding lawyers strengthen our partnership with their diverse backgrounds and perspectives. I look forward to all that this class will achieve in the years to come."

While this time the group includes only US lawyers, in 2021, the promotions took place in the firm's Beijing and Shanghai offices.

The firm's Los Angeles headquarters welcomed three new partners. While Matt Cowan moved up in the white-collar defence and corporate investigations practice, Esteban Rodriguez rose in the consumer class actions team, and employment litigator Jillian Weinstein was named the assistant general counsel firmwide.

Meanwhile, in Washington DC, civil litigators Mattie Hutton and Deanna Rice moved up in the product liability and mass torts and Supreme Court and appellate litigation teams, respectively. Amanda Santella was promoted to the white-collar defense & corporate investigations team.

On the other hand, New York's promotions went to restructuring specialists Matthew Kremer and Maria von Schack, who are experts in transactions in the energy and infrastructure industries.

Others include tax lawyer Billy Abbott in Silicon Valley, litigator Tim Heafner in the entertainment and media practice in Century City, and IP litigator Mark Liang in San Francisco.
