ADNA Opens Kinshasa Office to Support Complex Transactions Across Central Africa

The pan-African law firm, ADNA, has expanded its presence on the continent with the launch of a new office in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). This strategic move marks a new phase in the firm’s growth and reinforces its ability to support clients on complex transactions across Africa, particularly within the OHADA region.

With this new office, ADNA strengthens its footprint in Francophone Africa—where it is already present in Abidjan, Algiers, Casablanca, and Conakry—while marking its entry into Central Africa. The expansion reflects the firm’s integrated approach, combining international standards with strong local expertise.

The Kinshasa office will be led by Serge Nawej Tshitemb’u, who joins the firm as Partner. With over 20 years of experience, he has advised international clients, including investors, financial institutions, and industrial groups, on high-value and complex transactions across sectors such as mining, energy, infrastructure, banking, and telecommunications. Prior to joining ADNA, he trained in Belgium at the Université libre de Bruxelles and practised at DLA Piper in London before founding Proxima International in 2014.

This integration builds on a long-standing collaboration between ADNA and Proxima International, enabling the firm to establish a strong presence in Central Africa with a team that combines deep local roots and proven expertise.

The Kinshasa office will focus on key practice areas including mergers and acquisitions, corporate and project financing, infrastructure and energy projects, mining law, tax, and complex dispute resolution, particularly for high-value regional and international transactions.

The DRC continues to emerge as a strategic market for international investors, especially in natural resources, infrastructure, and financial services. Through this expansion, ADNA aims to support clients in navigating critical opportunities and challenges, backed by strong market knowledge and execution capabilities aligned with global standards.

The move also aligns with ADNA’s broader regional growth strategy, strengthening cross-border collaboration across its offices and supporting investment flows across Africa. Leveraging its membership in the Africa Legal Network (ALN), the firm further enhances its ability to deliver seamless support on complex pan-African transactions.

Salimatou Diallo, Managing Partner of ADNA, said,

“The opening of our Kinshasa office goes beyond geographic expansion; it reflects our identity and ambition as an African firm, deeply rooted in the realities of the continent and committed to supporting our clients in achieving their economic ambitions in strategic markets.”

Serge Nawej Tshitemb’u added,

“We are solution-driven, turning complexity into opportunity to support the most ambitious and strategic projects.”

Gbenga Oyebode, Chairman of the Africa Legal Network (ALN), commented,

“The DRC is not a peripheral opportunity—it is central to Africa’s future. ADNA’s expansion into Kinshasa reflects ALN’s commitment to being present where clients need us, with the expertise required to navigate sophisticated legal and regulatory landscapes.”

This expansion underscores ADNA’s continued commitment to strengthening its pan-African platform and delivering high-quality legal services across key growth markets. The launch of the Kinshasa office not only enhances the firm’s regional capabilities but also positions it to play a pivotal role in supporting complex, cross-border transactions and long-term investment opportunities across Central Africa.
