Trowers & Hamlins Acquires License for Expansion in Singapore

Partner Abdulhaq Mohammed to head the new office

Trowers & Hamlins has secured a foreign law practice license from the Legal Services Regulatory Authority (LSRA) to establish its presence in Singapore.

It has mobilized a dedicated team of lawyers, including lateral hires and relocations from other offices to manage the operations.

The new set-up will collaborate with its Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur office and its wider global network. The office, headed by partner Abdulhaq Mohammed, will drive the firm’s growth strategy in Asia.

Expressing delight in procuring the license, Jeremy Ingham, the firm’s international managing partner stated, “Singapore is a significant regional finance and business hub. It makes compelling business sense to have a dedicated presence in Singapore for opening access to other key markets across Southeast Asia and we can better service our clients’ cross-border work. Mohammed’s relocation to head the office demonstrates our commitment to making this strategy a success. He has a track record of growing our business and our client network.”

Abdulhaq Mohammed added: “This is an exciting moment for Trowers & Hamlins. Singapore is a strategically important and energetic market, which will help connect several spheres of our business. It is at the heart of an increasing number of links being established between Asia and the Middle East and the continuing drive for infrastructure growth in Southeast Asia. We look forward to getting started.”
