DLA Piper's dual appointment boosts Litigation practice with Financial Services team in Los Angeles

John "Jake" Loftus and Christine Ellice, both based in Los Angeles, have joined DLA Piper as partners to further strengthen the firm's litigation capabilities on the West Coast.

In addition to representing underwriters in securities class actions, Loftus and Ellice have a wealth of experience representing clients in financial services lawsuits involving stocks, bonds, mutual funds, and several other investment products.

For thirty years, Loftus has served as a litigator, senior management expert, and general counsel in the financial services sector. He has been the primary expert in numerous filings with state and federal courts, class actions, arbitrations, and actions and investigations by the SEC and FINRA related to securities litigation and regulatory problems.

Private equity funds, investment management businesses, investment banks, securities brokerage firms, and national banks are just some of the clients Ellice has represented in complicated commercial litigation. For partnership and LLC disputes, investor actions, and other commercial litigation matters, Ellice also acts as counsel for individuals, corporations, and growth-stage companies.

James Brogan, worldwide co-practice group leader for Litigation & Regulatory, lauded Jake as a "leader in the financial services business" because of his "understanding from the client side of financial services" in addition to his legal competence. "Our clients will instantly reap the benefits of Jake and Christine's multifaceted skill set, which will allow us to address even the most intricate legal matters with confidence and agility."

Angela Agrusa, managing partner of the Los Angeles office, remarked, "Jake and Christine are competent, respected litigators in their profession and their concentration on financial services, securities, technology, and entertainment adds depth to critical areas of our West Coast litigation practice."
