Hogan Lovells announces new management changes to IPMT practice and Germany

Hogan Lovells has announced two key leadership changes that will take effect from January 1, 2023.

Miriam Gundt (partner) of Düsseldorf has been designated Global Managing Partner of the Intellectual Property, Media, and Technology (IPMT) practice group, and Munich Partner Detlef Hass has been designated as Managing Partner for Germany.

Gundt takes over as Global Managing Partner of the IPMT practice, succeeding Burkhart Goebel, who has led the IPMT practice since 2018 and will return to focus on his practice. Hass is appointed Managing Partner for Germany, with responsibility for offices in Berlin, Dusseldorf, Frankfurt, Hamburg, and Munich. Stefan Schuppert, Germany's leader since 2018, will return to concentrate on his practice.

Gundt is an ideal "go-to" lawyer for co-ordinating international patent disputes and enforcing intellectual property rights in a variation of European jurisdictions. She has been the IPMT EMEA Practice Area Leader since 2020. She was the lead partner for Diversity & Inclusion in Europe from 2018 to 2021. Gundt began working at Hogan Lovells' Düsseldorf office in 2006 and was promoted to partner in the IPMT practice in 2015.

Hass is an experienced commercial litigation partner who is widely regarded as a trailblazer in Germany for his approach to high-profile commercial conflicts, particularly in the critical area of supply chain disruption issues. He oversaw Hogan Lovells' global Manufacturing, Energy, and Industrials (MEI) sector group since 2018. Prior to that Hass was the head of the firm's Continental Europe Commercial Litigation practice until 2016, where he built a leading pan-European litigation practice. He began working for the firm in 1994.

Schuppert has a long history of advising clients on data security and information technology projects. He led the firm's largest German office in Munich for nine years before becoming Managing Partner for Germany. In 2022, he was appointed Co-Diversity & Inclusion sponsoring partner for EMEA, a position he will hold indefinitely. He began working for Hogan Lovells in 1996.
