The 1% concession on stamp duty on registration of documents pertaining to sale and lease of immovable property, gift deeds etc. is set to take effect from April 1, 2020. The duty was reduced to 5% and is expected to give a fillip to the sector.

The concession in stamp duty was announced in the Maharashtra budget on March 6.

According to officials, the concession is applicable to Mumbai Metropolitan Region, Pune, Pimpri Chinchwad and Nagpur for a period of two years.
