Calcutta High Court Judge Justice Protik Prakash Banerjee passed away today morning at around 5.15 am due to heart failure at the age of 51.

Justice Protik Prokash Banerjee was elevated as an Additional Judge of the Calcutta High Court in September 2017. His tenure as an Additional Judge of the Calcutta High Court was extended by another year by the Central Government earlier this year.

Justice Banerjee worked as the guest lecturer at the West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences. He joined in the High Court of Calcutta as an advocate in 1995 and selected for the post of Junior Standing Counsel of the Government of West Bengal in 2011. He also became the Vice President of Bar association of the High Court, Calcutta. On 20 September 2017 he was nominated and took oath as a judge of the Calcutta High Court.

Justice Banerjee studied in Calcutta Boys' School and completed his legal education from Hazra Law College in 1994. His father Mukul Prakash Banerjee was a senior Counsel of the Calcutta High Court.
