Saket District Court employee in Delhi dies of COVID-19; Judge tests positive

In a recent development, a court staffer in the Saket District Court in Delhi succumbed to the novel Coronavirus. According to sources he had been suffering from other medical complications which worsened after he contracted Coronavirus leading to his death.

District courts across Delhi had suspended working till April 15 owing to the national lockdown.

A Sessions Judge has also tested positive for the Coronavirus and is said to be undergoing treatment in a hospital. Meanwhile, his house in Delhi has been sanitised and his family members have been tested. The area has been declared a containment zone.

After the Prime Minister announced the nationwide lockdown to be extended till May 3 in order to contain the global pandemic, the Delhi High Court and Subordinate Courts shall remain suspended till May 3 as well.

The High Court has also directed all the District and Sessions Judges to ensure that video conferencing is done through ‘WebEx’.
