Practising in the Supreme Court of India, his areas of expertise included arbitration, commercial and tax laws.
He also practiced before the Delhi High Court which designated him Senior Advocate in 1984.
With more than 50 years' experience across arbitration, commercial and tax laws, he was also a part of the expert committee constituted by the Law Commission of India for preparation of the 246th Law Commission Report, which led to the 2015 Amendment to the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996.
He is survived by his son Ashish Dholakia who is also a Senior Advocate practicing in Delhi.
