Niruphama Ramakrishnan has joined Chandhiok & Mahajan as a partner to lead the firm's newly established capital markets practice. She will divide her time between the firm’s New Delhi and Mumbai offices.
On the initiation of the new field, Pooja Mahajan, the Managing Partner at C&M commented, “The launch of our capital markets practice is driven by our longstanding commitment to meeting the evolving needs of our clients. This strategic move reinforces our dedication to delivering high-quality legal services and strengthens our position as a leading full-service law firm.”
On Ramakrishnan's joining, Sujoy Bhatia, the Partner, and Head of the Corporate Practice at C&M remarked, “We warmly welcome Niruphama to the firm. Her expertise and extensive industry understanding make her the ideal choice to spearhead and launch the firm’s capital markets practice. In addition to her core focus on capital markets, we hope to rely on her significant experience in augmenting our securities regulatory practice that has seen impressive growth in matters before SEBI and the SAT.”
Expressing her enthusiasm, Ramakrishnan stated, “I am delighted to embark on this new chapter with C&M as we establish our capital markets practice. Collaborating with a dynamic team and lending my knowledge to assist our clients in navigating the complexities of capital markets is an interesting opportunity. Together, we want to deliver outstanding and timely solutions to support our clients' success.”
She has over 13 years of experience in capital markets transactions, structured products, InvITs and REITs, regulatory, and general corporate. Her recent equity transactions include an initial public offering by Elin Electronics Kaynes Technologies, DCX Systems, Archean Chemicals, and Latent View Analytics. She was also involved in the rights issue of Data Infrastructure Trust.
A 2009 graduate of NALSAR, Hyderabad, Ramakrishnan holds an LL.M. from NYU School of Law. She has previously worked with AZB & Partners, S&R Associates, and Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas. Until recently she served at J Sagar Associates and in 2021 entered partnership.
