Dubai,
Curtis, Mallet-Prevost, Colt & Mosle LLP
Founded in the 1820s in New York City by cousins John and James Lorimer Graham, Curtis, Mallet-Prevost, Colt & Mosle LLP stands as one of the oldest and most respected law firms in the United States. From its early days in downtown Manhattan’s Financial District, the firm has grown into a global legal powerhouse with a rich legacy of innovation, high-stakes litigation, and international influence. The firm’s historical roots trace back to its work on foundational banking and financial institutions, including the drafting of the articles of association for what is now the Bank of New York and early legal representation for what became Citibank.
Throughout the 19th century, Curtis developed a strong reputation in both national and international legal matters. William Curtis Noyes, a key early partner, played a crucial role in codifying New York State law. The admission of Harris D. Colt and Severo Mallet-Prevost in 1897 marked the beginning of the firm’s transformation into an internationally recognized name. Mallet-Prevost, a renowned international lawyer, laid the foundation for the firm’s decades-long leadership in public international law and cross-border arbitration.
Curtis has long represented clients at the highest levels, with founding partner Samuel A. Foot arguing before the U.S. Supreme Court as early as 1828, and John G. Carlisle, former U.S. Secretary of the Treasury, joining the firm to litigate landmark constitutional cases after the Spanish-American War. This legacy continues today, as the firm advises sovereign states, multinational corporations, financial institutions, and high-net-worth individuals in complex, often precedent-setting disputes and transactions.
The firm’s modern practice spans a comprehensive range of services including international arbitration, public international law, mergers and acquisitions, capital markets, finance, international trade, tax, white collar defense, cybersecurity, and private client services. Curtis remains a trusted advisor for clients navigating multifaceted legal issues across jurisdictions, blending nearly two centuries of legal tradition with cutting-edge insight into contemporary challenges.
With offices around the world and a steadfast commitment to excellence, Curtis, Mallet-Prevost, Colt & Mosle LLP continues to shape legal discourse and deliver superior results for its clients on a global stage.
