As per report, Senior Advocate Dammalapati Srinivas was designated as new Advocate General for the state of Andhra Pradesh, after the resignation of P Venugopal, who was paid a visit by public prosecutor P Venkateswarlu and asked to demit office.
"The public prosecutor came to my office and asked me to resign. That is not the general practice followed," said P Venugopal.
During a proposal to raise the law officers of the state government, reports recommended that Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu effected the change of guard. To this end, he had replaced Venugopal withDammalapati Srinivas, who served as Additional Advocate General.
When contacted, DammalapatiSrinivas confirmed his appointment but chose not to comment on the issue. He completed his law from VDS Law College in Vijayawada and registered as member of Bar Council of AP.
Prior to working under Senior Advocate SR Ashok, DammalapatiSrinivas worked as a junior with current Supreme Court judge Justice NV Ramana.
