In the combined venture between the two countries, Linklaters and Gaien Partners from Japan have advised Toshiba's 60 percent stake in Carrier Global on its 100-billion-yen ($870 million) acquisition

Reuters reported that to overcome shareholder opposition to its turnaround plan, Toshiba's offloading of its air conditioning business by selling its stake in Toshiba Carrier is part of the Japanese industrial conglomerate's effort.

Led by partners, Derek Tong and Matthew Bland, the Linklaters team was supported by partners, Hiroya Yamazaki, Kenneth Lam, Richard Gu, Sutthipong Koohasaneh, Daniel Cousens, Julia Schönbohm, Laure de Panafieu, Marly Didizian and Christoph Barth.

Japanese law advice was provided to Carrier by Gaien partner Satoko Kuwabara.
