The leading law firm in India, Trilegal advised the International Finance Corporation (IFC), the Transaction Advisor to the Chittagong Port Authority and the Government of Bangladesh, on a concession agreement for the development of a greenfield container terminal at Laldia, Chattogram Port, on a PPP basis.
The Laldia Container Terminal will be designed, built, financed, and operated by a consortium comprising APM Terminals B.V. (a subsidiary of A.P. Møller–Maersk Group) and QNS Container Services Limited. With an investment of approximately USD 550 million, it is one of the largest PPP investments in Bangladesh’s history. Once operational, it will be Bangladesh’s first green terminal, boosting container-handling capacity by ~800,000 TEUs annually and enhancing the country’s global competitiveness.
