Dentons Boosts Middle East Presence with Seasoned Partner Hamish Walton

International law firm Dentons has further enhanced its Corporate practice in the Middle East through the tactical relocation of its Melbourne-based partner Hamish Walton to the region.

In his capacity as a senior legal consultant, Walton brings to the team over 30 years of experience in advising clients on intricate corporate transactions globally, spanning various industries such as financial institutions, education, renewable energy, life sciences and healthcare, media, entertainment and sports, technology, automotive, and real estate. Renowned for his expertise in both public and private M&A as well as joint ventures, Walton has a proven track record of guiding clients through significant cross-border M&A transactions.

Walton was located in the Middle East between 2008 and 2017 with stints at various international law firms. More recently, he has actively contributed his expertise to significant matters in the Middle East region. Notably, Hamish played a key role in advising the Ministry of Investment (MISA) on seven out of 12 economic support deals, forming part of its initial wave of projects under the Private Sector Partnership Reinforcement (Shareek) Programme. The combined project value for these endeavours reached an impressive US$51 billion.

"We are delighted to welcome Hamish to the region and we are excited to watch him help us continue to grow our offering in the Middle East and beyond. Hamish has an excellent reputation for his work with Dentons' clients in Asia and we are excited to work with him as he joins our team in the Middle East," Nick Simpson, Dentons’ Head of Corporate for the Middle East said.

Jon Nash, Dantons’ Middle East Managing Partner, underscored the significance of Walton's addition to the team in line with the firm's strategic initiative to expand the firm’s regional corporate practice.

“Hamish’s Middle East expertise and abilities make him the perfect fit to further strengthen our Corporate team in the Middle East and support our clients across the region on new and exciting mandates," Nash stated.

The ongoing commitment to invest in all practice groups within the Middle East region is evident in Dentons' recent developments. Walton's relocation represents the latest addition to a series of accomplished senior lawyers joining the firm in the Middle East. This includes the recent recruitment of Edward Rose (Energy, Transport and Infrastructure), Guy Danalis (Corporate and Commercial), Hazel Shakur-Quinn (Real Estate), and David Pang (Corporate and Commercial) as senior legal consultants.
